In a sharp rebuke, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused U.S. President Donald Trump of residing in a “disinformation bubble” fueled by Russian narratives. Zelenskyy’s comments come in response to recent remarks made by Trump, which Zelenskyy suggests are influenced by misinformation originating from Russia.

The Ukrainian leader emphasized the importance of countering these narratives, which he believes undermine support for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy, while refraining from commenting on popularity ratings, highlighted his own approval rating in Ukraine, stating that a recent poll indicates a 58% trust level among Ukrainians. This comes as a counterpoint to Trump’s unsubstantiated claims about Zelenskyy’s low approval.

Zelenskyy also pointed to what he sees as a concerning “misinformation circle” around Trump, alleging connections to figures associated with Hungarian and Slovak governments, further fueling concerns about external influence.

The Ukrainian President’s remarks come at a crucial juncture, as the U.S. Congress debates the future of aid to Ukraine. With Trump’s influence looming large within the Republican Party, Zelenskyy’s efforts to combat disinformation take on added significance.

His warning about Russian influence and the “disinformation bubble” around Trump is a clear attempt to sway public opinion and ensure continued support for Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.

Zelenskyy has pledged to gather more data on trust levels for global leaders in an attempt to counter Russian disinformation tactics. He stated that these efforts are crucial to ensure Ukraine’s survival, emphasizing that if anyone tries to replace him, “that will not work,” and that the ultimate goal of these disinformation campaigns is to weaken Ukraine.

He reiterated the importance of continued U.S. support, stating that it would be “extremely challenging” for Ukraine to endure without it.
