{"id":290149,"date":"2023-07-07T15:40:12","date_gmt":"2023-07-07T15:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gbcghanaonline.com\/?p=290149"},"modified":"2023-07-07T15:40:16","modified_gmt":"2023-07-07T15:40:16","slug":"former-dovvsu-director-cop-gifty-anin-botwe-blames-systemic-failures-for-allowing-sex-predators-to-escape-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gbcghanaonline.com\/general\/former-dovvsu-director-cop-gifty-anin-botwe-blames-systemic-failures-for-allowing-sex-predators-to-escape-justice\/2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Former DOVVSU Director COP Gifty Anin Botwe\u00a0blames systemic failures for allowing sex predators to escape justice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By: Edmond Tetteh<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Director of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, <a href=\"https:\/\/police.gov.gh\/en\/index.php\/domestic-violence-victims-support-unit-dovvsu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DOVVSU<\/a>, of the Ghana Police Service, COP Gifty Anin Botwe, says victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse remain scarred for life and the only way to pacify them and heal the emotional trauma that accompany the abuse, is severe penalty to perpetrators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launching a book titled \u201cRevealed, the Storm is Over\u201d, written by Beatrice Shine Ayroe, a victim of child sexual molestation, COP Gifty Anin Botwe, who was the first Director of DOVVSU, formerly WAJU, lashed out at some systemic failures that allow dangerous persons to roam our streets perpetrating sexual violence against young girls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To her, these persons, when caught, sometimes get softer punishments, and eventually repeat their bad behaviors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book chronicles abuses suffered by women in marriage and adult males who take advantage of girls and children left in their care to sexually molest them.
