Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Jethro W. Brooks asked industry players to offer practical experience to Graduates to enhance their competence and readiness for the job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Brooks said skills training remains the key to unlocking the unemployment challenges that continues to bedevil the continent. He said as the world is changing rapidly, there is the need for skilled professionals in every sector of the economy to innovate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Fifty-five trainees who graduated with Forklift and Mobile Crane operators\u2019 certificate, adds to one hundred and twenty-three who have graduated since the inception of the training program a year ago. The graduates were taken through rigorous training programmes that covered the safe operation of forklifts and mobile cranes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Acting Vice Chancellor of the Regional Maritime University, Dr. Jethro W. Brooks said the University is committed in equipping the youth with employable skills, which is critical for the security and development of the subregion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “By providing specialized training in mobile crane and forklift operators, we are not only enhancing individual career prospects but also contributing to the broader goals of regional development and security and most especially reducing the number of employment in our countries by providing the necessary employable skills needed for immediate employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The regional Maritime university is committed to continuously improving the training experience. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in your lives, as you step into the professional works remember that you are ambassadors of this program.”Dr. Brooks indicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Deputy Chief Executive Officer in Charge of Operations, at the Youth Employment Agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashiru commended the graduates for their relentless efforts to pursue these important technical programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “The serving record of this great institution of yours is providing the required skills for our job markets making it imperative for us to join you in celebrating not only the graduands who are done with their training but to as well commend the university for running programs which are highly demanded in the job market. I wish to also commend the graduates for their relentless effort to pursue this important technical program and we pray that the knowledge you got in your academic life will become useful not only to you but by extension to the entire continent and Ghana,” Alhaji Bashiru commended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n President of the National Association for Heavy-duty Equipment Operators Ghana, Dominic Kofi Eyiah urged the graduates to make a difference in the world with the skills acquired, by upholding the highest standards of professionalism at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “We celebrate the graduation of a new cohort of heavy duty equipment operators. We are reminded of the critical role they play in shaping the future of our continent from construction sites to mining operations, from transportation network to energy infrastructure. Heavy-duty equipment operators are the backbone of our economy, they are the architects of tomorrow, as we look to the future it is incumbent upon them to operate with diligence and care, prioritize safety and efficiency and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism,” Mr. Eyiah noted<\/p>\n\n\n\n Let me say this to the the graduates, as you embark on this next chapter of your journey, remember that you are not alone. You are part of a larger community, a proud tradition of excellence and service that stretches across our continent and beyond,” Mr Eyiah added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The theme for the ceremony was “Equipping the African Youth with Employable Skills, Critical for Sub Regional Security and Development”.
