The Ga State, led by Ga Mantse<\/a>, will collaborate with the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, with support from Zoomlion Ghana Limited, to embark on a massive clean-up exercise aimed at cleaning the capital city, Accra.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative, dubbed the Homowo Clean Up Exercise, is part of activities to mark this year’s annual festival. Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, in Accra on Friday threw his  weight behind the initiative, urging all chiefs and people of Ga State to fully participate in the exercise. He also called on the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to support the traditional council in carrying out the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Let’s get to work and get Accra clean and working again,” he emphasised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ga Mantse made the call when the Greater Accra Regional Minster and the Minister of Sanitation paid a courtesy call on him at his palace at Kaneshie in Accra. The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Titus Glover, assured the Ga Mantse of the support from the Regional Coordinating Council to ensure the success of the initiative. He also promised intensive public education on sanitation during the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On her part, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, commended the traditional authority for taking the lead role in the initiative, adding that their influence would yield positive results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The objectives of the Homowo Clean Up Exercise include promoting a clean and green environment, enhancing public waste collection and cleansing, promoting public education and law enforcement on cleanliness, as well as improving public health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zoomlion Ghana Limited will provide logistical support for the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
