{"id":326250,"date":"2024-07-10T09:33:31","date_gmt":"2024-07-10T09:33:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gbcghanaonline.com\/?p=326250"},"modified":"2024-07-10T10:55:32","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T10:55:32","slug":"parliament-passes-national-service-authority-bill-2024-into-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gbcghanaonline.com\/news\/parliament-passes-national-service-authority-bill-2024-into-law\/2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliament passes National Service Authority Bill 2024 into law"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Parliament has passed the National Service Authority Bill, 2024 paving the way for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nss.gov.gh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Service Scheme <\/a>to become an Authority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Authority as a corporate body will now have the requisite legal capacity to develop and implement policies, and programmes for national service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Service Authority Bill, 2024, was laid in Parliament by the Education Minister under a certificate of urgency on the 14th June, 2024 pursuant to a Cabinet Memorandum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr Osei Assibey Antwi thanked Parliament for the unity of purpose with which the bill was passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the Authority status the NSS will attain, after the president accents to it, will broaden their scope of operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said as at now the scheme does not owe any service personnel.
