The Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, recently addressed the students of the Holy Spirit Fire Centre Assemblies of God (HSFC) BECE preparation class, urging them to remain focused on their education and to steer clear of negative influences. Her mentorship session left the students inspired and motivated about their future prospects.

During the session, Minister Abubakar emphasized the importance of self-preservation and personal development. She candidly advised the students, “If they are looking for a gang leader now that you are better off in your mom’s bedroom minding your business, if you want to hide and watch TV, that’s fine, stay on the phone, whatever it is, it’s Okay, but don’t mix with any bad crowds.”

She further advised the girls to set high standards for themselves, adding, “Just tell yourself that the quality of men I want to attract, they are not ready for me yet, so let me hold my own, preserve myself for the big opportunities that I will get in the future.”

Minister Abubakar shared her personal journey, highlighting the transformative power of education in achieving success. She stressed, “If you don’t finish this school, there are lots of cracks and spaces that you cannot fill.

Employers want graduates. If there’s a job now, they want graduates with certificates.” This statement served as a powerful reminder for the students to prioritize their education.

Reflecting on her own background, Minister Abubakar inspired the students by recounting her experiences and achievements despite coming from a humble beginning. “Nobody can convince me that you cannot come out of public school and do great things because I came from that, and I’m so proud of my school,” she declared with pride. This personal testimony served to underscore the possibilities that lie ahead for the students, regardless of their starting point.

""

In her concluding remarks, Minister Abubakar urged the students to preserve themselves for future success. “Self-preservation and self-development are key. Education pays; don’t let anybody convince you otherwise. Look at me, from Chopper to Ghana Bar. Ghana Bar is about lawyers. I came from Chop bar, now I’ve graduated to the Ghana Bar, so what shows that if you want to be a sage, you can’t?” Her words resonated deeply with the students, providing them with a strong sense of purpose and determination.

Additionally, Minister Abubakar assured the students that she would personally assist anyone who gains admission to a school but lacks the financial resources to purchase necessary supplies. This generous offer further reinforced her commitment to supporting the educational pursuits of the students.

The session concluded with the students feeling inspired and empowered, thanks to the encouraging words of Minister Fatimatu Abubakar. They left with a renewed sense of purpose and a strong commitment to achieving their educational goals.

The initiative, led by Coordinator Gloria Anderson, aims to equip students with the necessary academic and spiritual tools for success.

In her address, Mrs. Anderson highlighted the comprehensive nature of the program, which goes beyond mere academic preparation. “We have teachers from various subject fields who help the students with subjects they find difficult,” she said. “We guide them on the proper ways of answering questions, and beyond the BECE, we pray with them and share the word of God. It’s not just about teaching and equipping them academically; it’s also about preparing them spiritually for their lives.”

The program also includes sessions on time management, study techniques, and career guidance. “We bring in experts to talk to the students about how to manage their time, how to study effectively, and what career choices they should consider,” Anderson added. “We also guide them through the school selection process, helping them make informed decisions.”

This year’s preparation class included a significant mentorship session with the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, who shared insights and advice with the students, further enriching their experience.
