Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Minority Leader of the 8th Parliament, has alleged that the outgoing Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Ghana, Mr. Godfred Yeboah Dame, used underhand tactics to carry out a “malicious prosecution” against him in the Ambulance trial.

According to him, the “malicious prosecution” carried out by Mr. Yeboah Dame was aimed at satisfying the Akufo-Addo-led administration.

The Minority Leader made this revelation during the dissolution of the 8th Parliament, under the 4th Republic on Monday, January 6, 2025.

According to him, the Attorney-General had coerced an individual, who was standing trial alongside him, to falsify their testimony.

He further accused the Attorney-General of engaging in various unethical practices, including witness tampering, conspiracy against the accused, fabricating evidence to pervert the course of justice, and professional misconduct.

“The Attorney-General and the minister responsible for justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame in whom the prosecutorial powers of the state are vested was determined to deploy all crude tactics including the use of subterfuge to achieve his ends of malicious prosecution just to satisfy the regime,” he said.

The Minority Leader, maintained his recent prosecution by the Attorney-General was an attempt to silence and ‘completely extinguish his dissenting voice’ since his prosecution began in the wake of the tussle over E-Levy. According to Ato-Forson, the Attorney-General acted to ensure that the will of the government stands despite being wrong or right.

“My recent prosecution or call in persecution by the Attorney-General over frivolous and trumped up charges was calculated to silence, intimidate, and completely extinguish a known dissenting voice. My crime was that I sounded an alarm bell on an economy that was mismanaged and ruined by an act and omission of a select few in government.

The fact that my prosecution began in the wake of the tussle over E-Levy should not be lost on anyone that I become an instant target of the regime. I was charged on Christmas Eve, a few days after the rejection of the E-Levy and the 2022 budget,” Dr. Ato Baah Forson reiterated.
