The newly established Committee on Chieftaincy, Culture, and Religious Affairs has received widespread commendation from the public for its potential to address conflicts and promote national unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee is expected to tackle numerous chieftaincy and religious disputes, fostering lasting peace in affected communities and across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At its inaugural meeting held in Accra last week, members pledged to collaborate with all religious and traditional groups to promote peaceful coexistence among Ghanaians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chairman of the committee, who also serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah<\/a>, urged members to cooperate fully to ensure the committee’s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that the committee\u2019s mandate is crucial to Ghana\u2019s social and economic development, stating that since independence, culture, religion, and chieftaincy have played significant roles in shaping the nation’s progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cColleagues, this is the time to enhance our existing cultural and religious norms to achieve maximum economic growth and infrastructural development for all,\u201d Dr. Kyei Asamoah noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further highlighted that many countries have achieved remarkable development by prioritizing their cultural and religious heritage, underscoring the need for Ghana to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On her part, the Ranking Member of the committee and MP for Pusiga Constituency in the Upper East Region, Madam Laadi Ayii Ayamba, assured the public that the committee will not be passive but rather proactive and impactful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She pledged that the committee would actively support religious and traditional leaders in promoting Ghanaian culture globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe committee will engage with traditional and religious leaders, civil society organizations, and ordinary citizens across the country to emphasize the importance of cultural promotion for national development,\u201d Madam Ayamba stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She concluded by acknowledging Ghana\u2019s unique religious diversity, where Christians, Muslims, and traditional worshippers coexist harmoniously. She reaffirmed the committee\u2019s commitment to preserving and strengthening this peaceful coexistence for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
