The Centre for National Culture (CNC) in the Volta Region has joined the campaign against child abuse.
Mr. Kasim Mireku, Head of Programmes, CNC, Volta Region, told the Ghana News Agency that the Centre was using culture to “see every child free from abuse” in Ghana.
At a child abuse sensitisation programme in the South Dayi District by the Centre with support from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, he encouraged children to report all forms of abuse.
Mr. Mireku said his outfit would use drama to educate the people against child abuse because it portrayed the real situation to them.
He said child abuse posed great challenge to Ghana’s rapid socioeconomic development and called for support to extend the campaign to other parts of the Region.
Madam Emma Adom, the District Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, said child abuse was affecting education in the area.
Ghana News Agency gathered that some parents go to fishing or market with their children during school hours.
