Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name Stonebwoy, has explained the inspiration behind his “greedy men” song, which focuses more on illegal artisanal small-scale gold mining (galamsey).

According to the BHIM Nation President, he was watching the news and heard about how galamsey was destroying our water bodies and decided to do in-depth research about it.

In an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show, he said: “The people who are seeking to find solutions to the problems know a lot about it and how they come about and people keep focusing on galamsey as the biggest problem but there are other problems that could be tackled as well.”

He added that upon recording the song ‘Greedy Men”, he had a lot of people coming into his direct messages to attack him for speaking against illegal mining, but he is unfazed because the government in power is seeking to end illegal mining as well.

The song “Greedy Men”, yells out to Ghanaians about issues such as oil leakage, illegal mining, deforestation, and more, was released last year 2021.
