Breman Ayipe residents send SOS call to government over poor road/bridge infrastructure

By Issac Agyemang

Residents of Breman Ayipe in the Breman Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa in the Central Region are calling on the government through the Ministry of Roads and Highways to aid in the construction of their bridge that links Handowode, Baah and Adjumako in the Central region of Ghana.

The road and bridge, which had been in construction for the past four (4) years, have seen no improvement up to date.

Opanin Agyemang, an Elder of the Community, started the project long ago; however, due to insufficiency of funds, it halted.

Due to the poor nature of the road and the bridge, the people of Bremen Ayipe have taken it upon themselves to start projects on their own.

Speaking to some of the Opinion Leaders of the Community, they stated that they have contributed lots of cash and more than 300 bags of cement to the construction.

The road can also serve as a bypass to Agona Swedru and other neighbouring towns in the region.

According to residents, Breman Ayipe contributes to 50% of Cocoa, palm plantation and coconut plantation production in the whole district, and yet no proper road is found in the district.

They are therefore calling on the government, NGOs, Cocoboard and Olam Cocoa purchasing company to, as a matter of urgency, come to their aid.
