The Director of Business Development and International Partnerships at Food and Drugs Board Authority, Kwame Dei Asamoah-Okyere, has been providing highlights to the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Scientific Forum, which will be held on September 14, 2023, to provide a platform for stakeholders to bolster regulatory science and safeguard public health.
In an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show, the Director emphasised the collaborative efforts underway, involving a spectrum of entities ranging from research and development partners to advocates for consumer safety.
“To promote regulatory science and, ultimately, to protect public health and safety, in this case, we are collaborating with various stakeholders, including research, development partners, and the safety community,” he said.
According to him, those interested in the quality and safety of consumables, be it food, pharmaceuticals, or cosmetics, are invited to participate in the forum.
“Anybody who is interested in the safety of what they eat, ingest, or apply in terms of cosmetics onto their skin is encouraged to attend and engage in these discussions,” he added.
He further stated that the forum will provide strong base for businesses to tap into both local and global markets and bring together stakeholders from diverse sectors, fostering collaboration to enhance public health and safety standards.
The Forum presents an engaging opportunity for the ”public to witness the distinctive scientific studies, and attendees will have the opportunity to directly observe how FDA researchers are employing cutting-edge science and technologies to shape the agency’s regulatory choices as well as spur advancements in innovation”.
