The State Broadcaster, GBC will partner with the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, formerly known as RIDGE Hospital, for a blood donation exercise at the forecourt of the Corporation at Kanda on Friday, August 2.
This forms part of the Corporation’s 89th Anniversary celebration. It is to raise awareness on the need to regularly donate blood and stock the country’s blood bank.
Speaking to GBC News, Principal Nursing Officer at the Blood Bank of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Jennifer Hansen, said regular blood donation helps lower the risk of having cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, stroke, and other blood related diseases.
She noted that blood donation is crucial in saving lives.
A single blood donation can save up to 3 lives, experts say.
