On GTV’s breakfast show on Monday, September 16, 2024, Hubert Baidoo, lead economic analyst of the New Force, revealed a key policy initiative: the SSNIT revolution.

This plan, part of the party’s twelve pillars, aims to create market capital for investors by transforming SSNIT into a state insurance corporation.

According to Baidoo, workers will be able to access their claims after just five years of contribution, covering essential needs like health, accommodation, and education.

“These three basic needs remain constant for Ghanaians, regardless of age,” he explained. By addressing these needs, the SSNIT revolution can provide a cash-back guarantee for investors, enabling them to build healthcare facilities.

Baidoo identified affordability as the primary issue plaguing Ghana’s healthcare system, deterring investors from funding quality healthcare due to concerns about patients’ ability to pay.

“The big problem with health in Ghana is affordability. And that’s the reason we don’t even have quality health care, because the investor don’t want to put money in there because they know you can’t pay.”

He emphasized that the SSNIT revolution can help bridge this gap by building medical equipment and ensuring quality healthcare for citizens.
