The incumbent Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Sarah Adwoa Safo, faced defeat in her bid for re-election, as Mr. Mike Ocquaye Jnr emerged victorious with over 60% of the votes.
Sarah Adwoa Safo secured 328 votes, while Mike Ocquaye Jnr garnered 1194 votes, and Sheila Adoma polled 186 votes.
The total votes cast were 1708, with 7 rejected votes, making the total valid votes in the box 1715.
This marked the third time Mike Ocquaye Jnr contested against Adwoa Safo, who held the seat for three consecutive terms.
The Dome-Kwabenya constituency witnessed an intense competition, featuring a three-way contest among Adwoa Safo, Dr. Mike Oquaye, and Sheela Oppong Sakyi. The primary marked a critical moment for the NPP members in the constituency.
As a result, we’re tallied it was evident that Adwoa Safo has lost her seat to Mike Ocquaye Jnr.
In an interview with GTV, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Mike Ocquaye Jnr, expressed gratitude to the delegates for entrusting him with such responsibilities. He pledged not to let them down and attributed his victory to divine intervention.
As results from various constituencies continue to be declared, some have already produced winners, while others have candidates who went unopposed securing victory in their respective constituencies.
