Reports from Tema indicate that business around the parts of Ghana is likely to grind to a halt as freight forwarders and shippers have been picketing around the offices of shipping lines, following the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum for their concerns to be addressed.
According to the group, the excessive and exploitative charges by the Shipping lines are only crippling their businesses and making them uncompetitive compared to their counterparts in the sub-region.
Chairman of the Tema Branch of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders, Johnny Mantey tells Business News that various petitions have been presented to the Heads of key stakeholder institutions for prompt action.
Mr. Mantey enumerated a number of steps to be taken after three days of picketing.
