Ahiadome Transport, the National Road Safety Authority and Hollard Ghana have successfully launched the second edition of the Fit2Drive driver education and wellness programme in Accra.

Under the theme, ‘Your Health, Your Wealth,’ the Fit2Drive driver education and wellness programme, aims at promoting and enhancing the physical and mental wellbeing of commercial drivers.

The programme seeks to educate drivers on good road safety behaviours and to provide free occupational health screening by health professionals. This year’s programme will be rolled out in five regional capitals for over 1,000 commercial drivers in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Koforidua, and Techiman.

As a major player in the downstream petroleum sector, championing and setting standards for safety, innovation and quality, Vivo Energy Ghana remains resolute in its dedication to implementing long-term sustainable development initiatives with a focus on the health of its people.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Jean-Michel Arlandis, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana highlighted the contribution of drivers to the growth of the economy, ensuring that goods and people reach their destinations safely and on time: “At Vivo Energy Ghana, we believe that a healthy driver is a safe driver. This is why we are presenting thermometers, glucometers and blood pressure readers to transport unions in the various regions participating in the programme to facilitate personal health care.”

Delivering a speech at the event, Ing. David Osafo Adonteng, Acting Director General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) commended Vivo Energy Ghana for its commitment to making positive impacts in communities where it operates through initiatives such as the Fit2Drive driver education and wellness programme.

“Vivo Energy Ghana is not only focused the sale of petroleum products but goes beyond that to ensure that their customers are safe and well on the road. We are very much convinced that this programme spearheaded by Vivo Energy Ghana and its partners will continue to highlight and emphasize the importance of commercial drivers’ safety to reduce the menace on our roads,” he reiterated.

One of the highlights of the event was a raffle draw for commercial drivers, with exciting prizes including fuel coupons and insurance packages. The climax of the event was a free health screening provided by health professionals for all.
