In the heart of Ghana, a wave of action is sweeping across communities to shed light on the importance of understanding and tackling breast cancer. Local groups and healthcare providers are uniting to enlighten neighborhoods on the significance of early detection and routine screenings. Together, they aim to break the barriers of stigma, elevate knowledge, and enhance healthcare accessibility for all individuals, notably women who may be susceptible.

During the breast cancer awareness month, Medical PR for Medi Moses Clinic and Prostate Centre, Dr. (MH) Prince Osei, highlighted the criticality of early detection and providing care for those impacted by breast cancer.

In an engaging conversation on GTV’s Breakfast Show on October 8, 2024, Dr. Osei emphasized the common hesitancy among individuals diagnosed with breast cancer to accept their reality, leading them to veer towards herbal remedies without proper validation of their sources. Dr. Prince Osei delved deeper into the factors influencing breast cancer risks among Ghanaians.

He highlighted that genetic predisposition plays a significant role, with individuals having a higher likelihood of developing breast cancer if it runs in their family.

Additionally, he warned against the dangers of alcohol consumption and smoking, which escalate the chances of a breast cancer diagnosis. Expanding on the topic, Dr. Osei pointed out that hormone-related conditions and breast ailments like mastitis could also contribute to an individual’s vulnerability to breast cancer.

Dr. Osei further urged the people of Ghana to take proactive steps by undergoing tests to assess their breast cancer status. He emphasized the opportunity currently available, with organizations offering a generous 50% discount on both treatment and diagnostic services to make them more accessible and affordable.
