The Coalition of Hygiene Students has expressed concern over the delay in their postings and the release of their two-year allowance, which has put them in financial difficulties.

A statement signed by Mr. Emmanuel Lanyan, the Public Relations Officer of the Coalition, copied to the Ghana News Agency, said discussions held with stakeholders indicated that the delay was a result of no clearance from the Ministry of Finance.

It said an engagement by the Coalition with the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, and the yet-to-be-posted Environmental Health Officers and Assistants Association pointed to that fact.

A follow-up to the Ministry of Finance on June 3 and July 25 this year revealed that the Ministry of Sanitation had not submitted any official request and any list for the payment of the allowance, the statement said.

It said the Coalition further proceeded to the Ministry of Sanitation for another engagement but were denied entry by the security.

Mr Emmanuel Awuku Amewugah, General Secretary of the Coalition, told the GNA that the 2021 to 2024 batches of the graduates had not been posted, leaving most of them frustrated in the current economic condition.

“All these four batches across the country will not be up to 3500 people; we don’t know the reason why the government is finding it difficult to employ such a small number of people,” he said and appealed to the authorities to go to their aid.

He explained that some batches never received any allowance while in school, adding that their various schools fulfilled their responsibilities by submitting their names to the Ministry of Sanitation, followed by a headcount, but to no avail.
