The Coalition of NGOs in Health says it is yet to take a stance on any possible nationwide covid-19 vaccine mandate.

This follows reports that the Ministry of Health is contemplating triggering the Public Health Act and imposing vaccine mandates on Ghanaians in view of the rising Covid cases after it initiated a “No vaccine no entry”policy at its offices.

National Chairman of the Coalition of NGOs in Health, Bright Nyarko told Nathaniel Nartey that he expects the Coalition to take a firm stance on the matter only after intensive public education on what a vaccine mandate entails.

According to him, Ghanaians do not have enough knowledge on the subject matter calling on the Ministry to embark on a sensitization drive.

“To the listeners/viewers of GBC we are glad to say that the Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health, we have not taken any key stance on such plans by the Ministry of Health. We are of the view that extend and intensity education on what we mean by vaccine mandate so that the public will understand and go by it.
He went on to say that “of course we will share our views with the Ministry of Health, but not until the public education on the matter is done”, according to the National Chairman of the NGOs in Health Bright Nyarko.
