General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has re-iterated the Party’s rejection of the Electronic Transfer Levy, E-Levy. Speaking on GTV Breakfast Show on March 16, 2022, the NDC scribe said Ghana’s economy is currently in deep crises and there is the need for Managers of the economy to strategize effectively to address the problem. He however, said the posture of the Government paints a different picture to the problem. He alleged that in the next few months, the government will not be able to pay salaries of Public Sector Workers, since, a chunk of revenue mobilization is used to service the country’s debt.
”Clearly, government is preaching one thing and practicing another…. we think that the passage of the E-Levy can make issues worse. Half of all the money being collected goes into payment of debt… the other half goes into … payments…. there is no money left for goods and services”, according to Mr. Asiedu- Nketia.
