The Government’s Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), has seen multiple back clashes with the Minority in Parliament vowing not to have the Bill passed. The Akufo Addo Government has not given up, but rather embarked on a series of engagements with stakeholders, with the hope of wooing Ghanaians and for that matter the Minority Parliamentarians to come on board the E-Levy boat.

MP for Assin, Kennedy Agyepong has also added his voice to calls to support the government in its quest to look inward in terms of revenue inflows for Ghana.

He has therefore chastised critics of the E-Levy, stating emphatically that many are being misinformed about the importance of the tax.

Mr. Agyepong said such a Levy is being implemented in America, a rich country and it’s working fine with them. ”Why will we in this country agitate when everybody is also seeking development from the government?” he quizzed.

Speaking on #gtvbreakfast, the Assin North MP also went after Journalists, saying some are misinforming the people. He advocated a more educated conversation on how the E-Levy information is disseminated.

”Ghanaians can’t continue to always go out and beg for funds especially in these difficult times, when the world is facing a pandemic”.

The controversial MP, as some like to refer to him, advised that critics should be measured in condemning the policy entirely, and not also to fall for what he termed ”the antics of the Minority in Parliament, because he is ”well aware some NDC MPs who are for the E-Levy, but can’t come out to say so”, the Assin North MP posited.
