All candidates who contested for the NPP Presidential flagbearer race were present at the Accra Sports Stadium to signal the NPP’s commitment to promote peace and unity in the party.

Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, who has gained popularity for his “showdown” comment during the campaign period, was welcomed with a rousing welcome when he was called to the podium to say a few words.

Conceding defeat and describing the elections as free and fair, Mr. Agyapong applauded the party and all other stakeholders for their contribution to a successful election.

He pledged his support to help the party break the eight and give its opponents a showdown.

Former Agriculture Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto, for his part said he was confident that Dr Bawumia would lead the party to victory in the upcoming general elections next year. He entreated members to let go of the past and forge ahead.

Former Mampong Member of Parliament, Francis Addai Nimoh, in a remark while congratulating Dr Bawumia for his victory, pledged his commitment to build the party, calling on all to bury their differences.
