Some residents of Adabraka and its environs are calling on the government to stop unnecessary State-Funded travels, and rather invest in employment opportunities among Ghana’s youth.
A general view gathered among the residents revealed that the regular visits by government officials bring no yields.
Benjamin Sarfo, a student at the Accra Technical institute(ATU) and currently a resident of Adabraka said “they should stop travelling outside the country and use the money to create jobs for the youth so that it will prevent stealing in the country and all sorts of unnecessary things…”.
Another Student said, the challenges with the economy can be reversed.
”If custodians of the land decide to grow what they eat and eat what they grow”.
Elorm, also a student of ATU and a temporary resident of Adabraka had a long term advice.
”I will advise the government to process local goods very well so that we can patronize them in our country rather than exporting goods from outside the country, that will rather help Ghana. It will at least control the economy a bit better”.
The open-minded residents however noted that the country will enjoy better times in the near future, if the leaders decide to put paramountcy or high value on the provision of employment opportunities for the youth.
“I think they should create more jobs for the youth so that there will be more money in the country because right now more of our youth are unemployed and they engage themselves in fraud and other stuff, that is not helping the country to move forward”, added Abdul Taminu, a member of the Kasoa Community, but currently resident at Adabraka for academic purposes.
Ohemaa Prempeh, a student at Kumasi and resides at Adabraka said
“I think the Minister should rather talk to the youth about what they want and not sit there and take decisions on their own’.
The youth spoke with GBC News’ Jacob Aggrey and Francisca Maame Esi Quainoo, on the current state of the economy and the way forward.
