Ghana duo to participate in South Africa National Cycling Road Championship

The cycling community is abuzz with anticipation as Farrakhan Shaaban Mohammed of River Park Eastern Region Cycling Club based in Oda and Foster Doevi, popularly known as “Bullet,” of Gladiators Cycling Club based in Accra prepare to bring their experience and competitive edge to the National Cycling Championship scheduled for 30th November 2024.

Both athletes, celebrated for their remarkable contributions at the cycling program, have been pivotal in harnessing the support provided by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Athlete Development Program in Cape Town, South Africa .

So far, six athletes through the federation have benefited from the UCI Athletes Development Program since 2014. The beneficiaries had five males and one female, namely, Anthony Boafo Boakye Dankwa from River Park BA cycling club, AbdulRazak Umar of Die Hard, Frank Awuku David Akuffo of The Boss Tribe cycling club (TBT), Clementina Ayoung of River Park Gt. Accra cycling club, Farrakhan Shaaban Mohammed River Park Eastern Cycling club and Fostering Doevi of Gladiators Cycling Club.

Key Highlights to Watch Out For:

Athlete Development Initiatives: Leveraging insights from UCI programs, Mohammed and Doevi have implemented advanced strategies to enhance athletes’ performance and readiness.

Increased Competitiveness: Participants and fans can expect tighter competition as athletes showcase their refined skills and techniques.

Strategic Organizing Influence: Their expertise has helped shape the event into a benchmark for national championships, spotlighting local talent on a global scale.

The event will feature the 2023 national champion, Elites-Men Gold Medalist Michael Naaba of FCG cycling club based in Accra, Prince Kudufia of Team Epic based in Accra, and Emmanuel Sesi of Royal Stars based in Volta Region.

The event will also feature the junior category men gold medalist Abdul Majeed Sandah from Rainbow cycling club and the women Elite category gold medalist Erica Sedzro of Club Sky Team With Farrakhan Shaaban Mohammed and Foster Doevi’s vision steering the championship.

This year’s event will set new standards in cycling in Ghana. Cycling enthusiasts, supporters, and the public are encouraged to mark their calendars and join the celebration of cycling excellence on 30th November 2024 at Vicolis Olebu Ablekuma Pokuasi Route. All motorists plying that route on the date are cautioned to abide by the traffic control and safety rules and the police will be on duty to ensure order and security.
